Meet the candidates! Join forums in July for the August 6 Primary Election.

The League of Women Voters of Clallam and Jefferson Counties, in partnership with the North Olympic Library System, encourages members of the public who live in Legislative District 24 and Clallam County to submit candidate questions for the July Candidate Forums. 

These candidate forums for the August 6 Primary Election will take place on Zoom on the following dates, allowing people from across the County a chance to see the candidates.

• PUD Commissioner District 3 (West End): Tuesday, July 2, starting at 5:30pm.
  Confirmed participants are: Phyllis Bernard, Kenneth Reandeau, and Ken Simpson. Please submit your questions to info@lwvcla.org by noon on June 30.
  
  
• 24th Legislative District Representative Position 1: Tuesday, July 9, starting at 5:30pm.
  Confirmed participants are: Matthew (Matt) Roberson, Adam Bernbaum, Eric Pickens, and Nate Tyler. As of June 12, JR Streifel had not responded. Please submit your questions for these candidates to LWV24LDquestions@gmail.com by July 7.
  
  
• County Commissioner District 2: Thursday, July 11, starting at 5:30pm.
  Confirmed participants are: Kate Dexter and Randy Johnson. As of June 12, Anders Tron-Haukebo had not responded. Please submit your questions to info@lwvcla.org by July 9.
  
  
• 24th Legislative District Senator: Thursday, July 11, starting at 7:00pm.
  Confirmed participants are: Mike Chapman and Marcia Kelborn. Candidate James Russell chose not to participate. Please submit your questions for these candidates to LWV24LDquestions@gmail.com by July 7.
  
  
• 24th Legislative District forum: July 18

Questions for the Candidates

Concise, unbiased questions directly related to the job, its policies, and the leadership skills required will be given priority, and similar questions will be combined. We strive to ensure that questions reflect a wide range of concerns from our County, and our questions are never released to any candidates in advance of the forums.

Links to the primary forums, which can be accessed by computer, tablet, or phone, will be posted on both Leagues’ website lwvwa.org/Jefferson and lwvcla.clubexpress.com in July. Media partner KPTZ 91.9 FM will simulcast the forums and livestream them at kptz.org.  The forum will also be recorded and linked on the websites of both Clallam and Jefferson Leagues of Women Voters 42 to 72 hours after each forum.
