Learn the basic process of gel printing through hands-on practice and play.
After a short demonstration, add paint to your gel plate! You'll use different materials to add texture and design to the paint on your plate, and practice planning, layering, and sequencing to create unique prints.
About the Artist
Kaylee has a Master of Arts in Teaching and has taught grades K–12. Currently, Kaylee teaches Community Education classes in gel plate printing, collage, and card making at Peninsula College. She also teaches for the Peninsula Performs program through Field Arts and Events Hall. She believes that some of our most meaningful learning comes through play, exploration, practice, and repetition. Kaylee's approach emphasizes the importance of releasing both expectations and attachment to specific outcomes. The key to growing creativity is to dive in and be brave enough to make mistakes (and lousy prints) so that we can learn and discover new things along the way. Gel printing is a fabulous and freeing way to boost our creative confidence due to its unique element of surprise...you never know quite what you will end up with!
